Wrap around lights are lights that have a lens that literally wraps arounds the lamp and illuminates evenly in every direction, giving an aura to the subject.

Actually, wrap around lighting is more of a technique than a device.... and it is used by photographers to envelope something in a light for effect, particularly in portrait photography. It sort of looks like clouds, or an aura, or the sun.

Wraparound light sources basically give out diffused light.
