A beautiful chadelier - which is placed correctly - can turn your home into a mansion.

Conversely, a badly placed chandelier can turn your home into a laughing stock.

These days exquisite chandeliers can be purchased very cheaply on online stores.

Before buying a chandelier, you should do research about size, shape, placement, etc.

It is important to note that the chandelier will be the a absolute feature point of the room, so it is critical to get it right.

If you have a normal house, I would suggest to keep away from them, as they can look very pretentious.

When doing reaserach look at: height, position, what is under the chandelier, weight (for safety), style, and how bright you need it.

If you are going to invest in a chandelier - treat it as an investment! Don't pay too little because you get what you pay for.

In a small home, don't put in a chandelier, they can look rediculous in a tiny space.

If you are about to sell your home, consider putting in a chandelier. It can increase your price quite a lot.

There is actually a formula you can use around size and height, etc - there are plenty of online tools for that.

Important that the chandelier does not clash with the room. B every careful with modern chandeliers, as they can "out there".

Make sure before you buy the chandelier that you ceiling can handle the weight! You do not want to start spending on reinforcing your ceiling.

I like stained glass chandeliers, they are classic and quite a talking point.

Natural material chandeliers are very in and chic! Rope, wood, beads, metal. Lots of that is recycled.

In terms of height, should be 30-36 inches above your table.

I know chandeliers generally don't go in commercial places, but we installed one at our work (a coffe shop) and it was fanastic. Really turned the place from boring to interesting.

A small, minimalist chandelier in the bathroom also changes it from a boring room.
