Is there a standard height that I should hang my pendant light to ensure it is safe?

There is no standard height as it depends on the size of the room, what is under the pendants (eg table) as well as the height of the ceiling itself.

A good rule of thumb is is to hang the pendant about 28 to 32 inches over a table, and about 18 to 24 inches above the tallest person.
