As a rule , warm white (circa 3000K) lights should be used - they give a very nice yellowish feel and create a lovely atmosphere. However you can use cool white in rooms such as bathrooms and studies.

For offices, which are obviously also indoors, I would stromgly recommend cool white (4000K).

In the home absolutely stay away from cool white and daylight white lights (except for maybe in the bathroom). They are way too harsh.

For my living room I like to go with ultra warm white which is about 2200K. Loos really great and is a fantastic talking point.
