What do you think is the best type of lighting for bedrooms?

Most important light in a bedroom is the bedside light, I would recommend a bedside table lamp that has a flexible arm so you can direct the light in precisely the height and direction you need.

Ceiling light can be extremely harsh when in the bed so keep that in mind: don't install them directly above the bed and/or keep their brightness low. A dimmer is great there.

Consider sconces as well - they are becoming very fashionable. Also I love my mirror lights, I have hollywood lights around my mirror.

For a bedroom, you would be looking at 2000 to 3500 lumens, and 600 lumens per bedside table lamp.

Ensure all globes are frosted, that makes it much easier on the eyes.

My bedhead has lights installed on it, which is great ad frees up a lot of space.

For older style master bedrooms, I would go with an oversized wooden pendant.

Consider having recessed sconces - they are flush with the wall and are perfectly designed for the minimalists in us!

Whatever lights you choose, always go with LED - last 10 times longer and very green as well.

We have smart lights and they are incredible! Lying in your bed, you can use your phone app to control not only the lights in your bedroom (colour, dimness, effects, on/off etc) but the entire house.

If your bedroom is large enough then consider having a floor lamp. They look fantastic and make a great statement.

We use spotlights / gimbles on our ceiling and they are perfect because you can direct the lights exactly where you need them.

Make sure you use warm white lights.

Instead of bedside lamps we use two pendant above each bedside tables. Really nice!

A spotlight or two, directed at furniture item in your bedroom, looks fantastic - just make sure it is not directed at your eyes.

Go with minimalist lights... 4 downlights in the ceiling, no other lights, with dimmers.

Colour temperature is hugely important - always have warm white.
