I am trying to work out if light bulbs produce a lot of heat?

That depends on the type of light bulb.
For example the old fashioned incandescent light bulbs produced 2% light and 98% heat from every Watt they consumed.

Fluorescent light globes are about 8% efficient.

Halogen globes are about 3.5% efficient.
