Make sure you are aware of the flood light's IP rating - most of the time it is IP44 which is fine for the majority of applications, but sometimes you need it higher eg if you live in a cyclone area

Brightness is obviously the most important thing - these days you completely ignore wattage, it is lumens you need to look at.

A lot of flood lights these days come with sensors, which is great for safety and security.
Also, consider installing a timer on the switch - that can save you a lot of power.
