Recessed lights can be stunning, but make sure you avoid harsh shadows.

Premium pendants and chadeliers are great! They might cost a bit but they are worth it, as they will be a feature in their own right and make a huge statement.

I think sconces are really underutilized these days, they are great specially for long hall-ways.

Desk lamps and floor lamps are great for adding a nice touch to almost any room or table. Particularly if they are swing or adjustable lamps.

Ceiling spotlights work really well in kitchens as they allow you to direct the light anywhere you want.

Picture lights work great indoors.
For outdoors, use ground lights. They look rreally nice!
