Only about 5 or 10 per cent of the energy is actually converted into light however - most is heat. So the colder it is, the harder the light has to work, which is why cold was such a problem.</p>
<p>However LEDs don't use this mechanism, so cold is not a problem.</p>]]></content:encoded>
